Pitch #1: Cutter, 90-92 mph. Perhaps the greatest pitch in the history of baseball, has perfected it over the years and has unbelievable command and control over it. Able to add and subtract movement from it, with the ability to paint the corners. Has great late movement that bites hard and makes it difficult for hitters to time. A buzz-saw of a pitch that breaks bats consistently and jams hitters from both sides of the plate.
Pitch #2: Fastball, 91-93 mph. Works perfectly with the cutter as players expect the pitch to break and instead get caught looking at the straight fastball. Hitters are consistently looking for the late breaking cutter and cannot adjust to the four-seamer. Has the ability to add arm-side run and sink if he wants, which makes it even tougher on hitters.
Delivery: Pitches from the stretch, uses a above the belt leg lift. Many have copied his patented front leg wiggle as he sets himself. Easy to repeat delivery with no strain on his arm. Delivery offers deception as the ball gets to the plate quickly. Stands on the third base side of the rubber. Doesn’t change his delivery at all with runners on. Holds runners on well by varying his looks to home.
Control: Incredible command and control, rarely walks anyone and strikes out close to a batter per inning. Can place both pitches exactly where he wants them. Has the ability to add and subtract movement from the cutter and has perfected the pitch. Does a great job against both lefties and righties. Keeps the ball in the ballpark.
Poise: Possibly the most unflappable pitcher in the game today. Has an impeccable track record in the playoffs. Has incredible confidence in himself and his abilities, shows zero emotion on the mound and is not shaken by anything.
Physical Description: Long lean frame, with long limbs. Has a small frame that doesn’t look imposing. Has room to add weight, but does not need to add or subtract weight. Has great weight distribution with solid muscle definition. High waisted with long legs. No concern over adding bad weight.
Projection: Hall of Fame closer, has been among the top closers every year for over a decade. Dominant in the most crucial times. Will retire at the end of the season as one of, if not the, best closer ever to play the game.
